Our Mission

"Rooted in Christ - Reaching Out to the World."
Our mission is to help all people develop a personal, growing relationship of faith with Jesus Christ and to proclaim Him as Savior and Lord to our world through deed and word.

The Covenant Mission

We are united by Christ in a holy covenant of churches empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey the Great Commandments and the Great Commission:
  • ...to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind;
  • ...to love our neighbor as ourselves, and
  • ...to go into all the world and make disciples.

Our Vision

The Bible reveals five purposes that Jesus Christ-through the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)-ordained for His church to follow. These are:
  • Worship
  • Fellowship
  • Discipleship
  • Evangelism
  • and Service
The church's mission statement encompasses these five Biblical purposes of the church as shown below…

ROOTED IN CHRIST
  •   Worship
In adoration and thanksgiving, we gratefully give ourselves to the Lord, accepting His
invitation to be in His presence, to be transformed by His love, and to know Him fully.
                John 4:24; Romans 12:1; Luke 7:37-38; Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7
  •   Fellowship
Unified by Christ, we joyfully gather together as a family of God to encourage one another
toward love for God and each other.
                Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 2:44-45; and Ephesians 4:15-16
  •   Discipleship
In response to Jesus' words, "come and follow Me," we study Sripture in order to know
Him, learn His ways, and grow in His likeness.
                Colossians 3:16; Matthew 28:19; 2 Timothy 2:1; Ephesians 4:15-16

REACHING OUT TO THE WORLD
  •   Evangelism
As witnesses of the love of God in our own lives, we share the truth that God's grace
through Jesus Christ is available for all.
                Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16; 1 Timothy 2:4; Luke 4:43; Matthew 28:18; Luke 4:25-27
  •   Service
In humble and joyful response to what God has already done for us through Christ, we
serve others by addressing their needs of body and spirit for His sake.
                Mark 10:45; Matthew 25:37; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Corinthians 9:22-23

It is our commitment at The Covenant Church of Easton to develop and maintain a healthy balance of opportunity and participation in these five purposes as a means of fulfilling the Great Commandment, the Great Commission, and the mission of our church.
